What is a nomination?
Your nomination tells the Trustee who you’d like a lump sum to be paid to if you die before claiming your benefits (or within five years or taking them).
Why nominate?
The lump sum is a valuable benefit, but if you don’t nominate, the Trustee might not know who your chosen beneficiaries are.
By nominating, you can help avoid delays in payments after your death and the payments are not usually liable to inheritance tax because they are at the Trustee’s discretion.
