DB member forms
If you're a member of a defined benefit (DB) Section of the Scheme, you can use the forms on this page to help you manage and update your pension.
You’ll find a variety of forms relating to your DB pension below. Simply select the specific topics from the list to find the form you need.
In most cases you’ll be asked to fill in these forms as part of a broader process and we’ll let you know when it’s required.
You might find it quicker and easier to make some changes online instead. You can do this by logging in to your myRPS account, or registering for a myRPS account if you don't already have one.

Joining/changing payments

Once you have completed the form, send it to your employer. Please do not send the form to Railpen.
This is a standard form for the Scheme, but you may want to check with your employer if they have a different form you need to use.

Taking your pot
If you want to take your BRASS or AVC Extra pot, you may need to get advice from the Government’s Pension Wise service first. Use the retirement guidance form below to tell us when that’s been done.

If you want to transfer your benefits from one Railways Pension Scheme (RPS) section to another you can use the inter-scheme transfer form below.
You can only request one inter-scheme transfer quote for free within any 12-month period. If you
need any more quotes within that 12 months there will be a charge.
If you want to transfer your benefits from a different pension provider to the Railways Pension Scheme (RPS) you can use the transfer-in request form.
Only some sections of the RPS allow transfers in from another Scheme, so please check in your Member Guide to find out if this is possible first. You can find the guide by logging in to your myRPS account.
If you want to transfer your DB pension, you may need to get financial advice first. Use the transfers guidance form to tell us when that’s been done, otherwise you may not be able to proceed with your transfer.
The pension scams questionnaire will help us consider if you are putting yourself at risk if you go ahead with a transfer. Please read the guidance document before completing the questionnaire.
You can use this Lifetime Allowance form to tell us about other pensions you have, so that these can be checked against the Lifetime Allowance limits.
These indemnity forms are used to confirm a transfer from the RPS to your new provider. There is 1 for you to fill in and 1 for your new provider to fill in.
The BRASS waiver form is for Protected members in Network Rail who would like to start contributing more than 15% to BRASS.
If you are an active member and would like to join BRASS, please complete the 'BRASS payroll deduction form' below. There is a separate version if you're a Protected member. Once you have completed the form, you should send it to the address on the form. Please do not send the form directly to Railpen.
If you are transferring from NRDC or CARE please use this transfer request form.
If you have been auto-enrolled and want to opt out of your Scheme pension, please complete the auto-enrolment opt-out form. You can read more about opting out on the leaving the scheme page.
