They are running a project called People, Pride and Progress. The purpose of the project is to gather the stories and memories of the LGBTQIA+ rail community of what it was like to be LGBTQIA+ in rail in a new audio history archive.
It is instigated and led by members of rail's LGBTQIA+ community with the aim of sharing the community's stories down the generations.
The organisers are especially keen to speak to people who worked under British Rail and early privatisation.
The Scheme is supporting the Museum with reaching out to as many retired rail workers as possible.
Each participant can choose the setting for a one-to-one session with a member of the People, Pride and Progress team.
The sessions are completely informal and provide an opportunity to share past experiences and stories during a relaxed chat.
These chats will be recorded to form a new audio collection that will be preserved in the National Railway Museum archive.
To ensure the privacy and safety of individuals who participate, optional closure periods on the records lasting up to 100 years is being offered to all participants.
Submissions can also be anonymous.
