Watch our short video to understand why it's so important to complete a Nomination for your pension...
Your pension isn’t just about you – it’s
about your nearest and dearest, too.
Completing a Nomination is one of the biggest steps you can take to ensure you get the most out of your railways pension.
That's because life assurance is a valuable part of your membership. And although it’s not a pleasant subject to think about, you may want to consider making arrangements for what may happen in the event of your death.
Completing a Nomination only takes five minutes. The easiest way to do it is online by logging into your myRPS account, (or registering for your myRPS account if you haven't already).
A lump sum may be payable if you die before you claim your RPS pension and by completing a Nomination, you can tell the Trustee who you’d like that money to go to. Your beneficiaries could be an individual, several people, organisations or charities.
Without an up-to-date Nomination form, the payment could be delayed, causing unnecessary uncertainty for your loved ones.
The Trustee will use the information you supply when it considers payments (although it is not obliged to follow your wishes).
If you’ve already completed a form, you need to ensure you keep it up to date. It's worth checking every couple of years and after changes to your circumstances to make sure the beneficiaries you've named reflect your current wishes.
